Privacy policy

Cubbyful by Cubbyful. Last updated October 21, 2026.

Cubbyful helps you cook from what you have: a cubby (your pantry, fridge and freezer), recipes, a weekly planner and a shopping list. This policy says what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to delete it. The short version: we keep what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and you can delete your account from inside the app.

What we collect

It is tied to a random install id, never to your name, email or account, and holds no typed text. Turn it off or delete it in My Kitchen
Advertising data on the free plan (see Ads)While ads showShowing ads that pay for the free plan

The camera is used only when you scan a barcode or take a photo, and the picture stays on your phone. Barcode numbers you scan are looked up in public product databases (Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central and similar), with no personal details attached. Notifications for timers and best-by dates are set on your phone; we don't send them from a server.

Ads

The free Taster plan shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, approximate location from your IP address and how you interact with ads, to show and measure ads. On iPhone you are asked first whether apps may track you; if you say no, ads are not personalized. In the EU, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent through Google's consent form. Paid plans have no ads. Google's policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Who else handles your data

We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it for others' marketing. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account data stays until you delete your account. Anonymous usage data is kept for up to 24 months. Server backups are overwritten within 30 days, so deleted data is gone from backups after that.

Your choices

Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU) you may have more rights, such as knowing what we hold about you or objecting to some uses. Write to support@cubbyful.com and we will answer within 30 days.

Children

Cubbyful is for adults planning meals. It isn't meant for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has an account, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

Passwords are stored with a one-way hash, connections use HTTPS, and sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before it applies. Questions: support@cubbyful.com.
